Louise is a mischievous little eight year old girl. Her father was a sailor and her mother
was a seamstress. They lived in a lovely townhouse in the city. For a short time they were a ordinary happy family. That is until Louise's father ran away with another women, driving her mother to insanity. Louise's mother was committed and Louise was sent to live in with her aunt Addaline in a small run down fishing village. Louise's aunt Addaline was a cruel and strict guardian. Louise was forced to go to a cramped public school, where she hated everyone there. In order to escape her grief, she often lied and made up excuses to leave the school or her new home. Hours upon hours she spent wondering the lonely coastline. Eventually her aunt Addaline caught onto her mischevious ways and banned Louise from ever going to the beach. At the beginning of "The Calling Shell" Louise is walking to school and decides to skip despite her aunts warnings.....
Neil is a 9 year old village boy, who doesn't go to school but works in his fathers butcher's shop. He is generally good natured but very forgetful and absent minded. He spends much of his time alone, making up games to play with his imaginary friends. The day Neal finds "The Calling Shell," his father sends him on an errand but Neil gets side tracked and wanders onto the beach only to discover an abandon back pack and a mysterious shell.....DunDunDun.
Mr. Crabby is a third generation guardian of the Calling Shell. His father and his father before him have all served as keepers of the Shell. It has always been their duty to protect the shell and prevent people from entering inside its magical world.
Danny, is a loyal and loving friend of Mr. Crabby. He is a very determined and faithful dragonfly and is always trying to help Crabby in his duty to protect the shell.
